OVERVIEW
Salson's 500,000 sq. ft. Port Newark, NJ facility
- In recent years there has been a significant increase in the volume of merchandise
imported into the United States, stimulating an increase in the number of Container
Freight Stations (CFS), bonded warehouses, truck and rail terminals and other
facilities which receive and hold imported cargo for purposes of examination and
clearance by U.S. Customs.
- As a result of this increase we have been able to adapt to changes by acquiring most
up-to-date technological equipment to support the increase of the quantities of
exams by U.S. Customs.
- Customs has installed a full pallet VACIS x-ray machine allowing quicker inspections.
- Our facility is in the Port of Newark, therefore allowing quicker clearance and related
importing services by U.S. Customs.
- Our CES is designated as such by U.S. Customs through a specific application and
election process.
- U.S. Customs and Border Patrol has elected our facility as a field office in the Port
Area, stationing up to 30 officers in our facility.
- Our responsibilities as a CES Operator is to ensure reliable service for the opening,
presenting for inspection and closing of all types of cargo.
- Our facility is rated on the ability to rapidly make cargo easily accessible to U.S.
Customs inspections and reloading containers for delivery.
- Salson Trucking's CES began its operation on January 16, 2007. We have committed
our Port Newark Facility to be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, making us the
largest Centralized Examination Site in Port Newark.
- Salson Trucking's CES certification enables U.S. Customs to provide improved
inspectional supervision and ensures more timely and predictable services to you.
By streamlining the cargo inspection process, we have ultimately allowed Customs
to clear higher volumes of cargo in a timely fashion and thus improve the overall
importation/entry process.
